1st Masters IDFA Nov 2007
4th Masters IDFA June 2007
What were your fitness and competition goals when you started training with Karen?
I got the competition bug last year, Nov. 2006 and definitely wanted to challenge myself again. I decided that I wanted to compete in the June 2007 show with Canadian-Classic and I definitely want to improve my placing, so that means I need to work harder!
What are your main reasons for choosing Karen as your personal trainer?
Karen is a professional and competes herself so she knows first hand the ups and downs of going through the process. She works hard, which I find admirable and inspiring. Her physique is proof of that! I also respect the fact that Karen believes in the natural approach to fitness/lifestyle and follows that protocol for her own competitions.
What improvements have you achieved so far in your physique?
I have definitely put on more muscle! I have more definition in my back, shoulders and my arms look pretty good! I can also see definition in my abs and my legs and butt have more shape. I feel I have improved overall and will do well in my next competition!
What has benefited you the most when training with Karen?
Karen has pushed me harder for sure, to achieve my goal. I appreciate the fact that she assessed my physique and designed my workout programs and meal plans according to how I looked. Karen is very supportive and checks up with me regularly, which is so great because it really helps to keep your head in the game.
What do you like most about your pre-contest training and diet?
I like the variety and I have also learned new exercises and food combinations that I will continue to use during “off season”. Hey wait a second, does that mean I will also have another “on season”? You betcha!
What is your favorite “cheat” or “indulgence” food?
Toasted multi-grain bagels with organic peanut butter, jam and slices of banana, followed by chocolate pudding and coffee with cream! I also love, 12″ Turkey subs on whole wheat, with EVERYTHING and wash it down with chocolate milk. YUMMMMMM!
What is/are your favorite exercises?
I love the leg training circuit workout and I have a love/hate relationship with the walk/run cardio workout….Could not do that one without my partner though! I love it when we both get off the treadmill covered in sweat and say “We did it”! High five each other and then go suck back our protein shakes! Whew!
Any other comments?
Thanks for everything Karen! You are a great role model, personal trainer and friend for life!
